View Full Version : lots of double posting
in the last few days i've been seeing lots and lots of double, triple, and even quad posting of the same post. i usually don't see too many but i'm seeing alot more than usual. i know theres been at least 10 threads in the last couple days.
is there something up with the software?

I havent double posted yet (i know if it hangs it probally still went through)but I have noticed that when posting it tends to hang and doesnt seem as if it was posted.

Yeah but when it hangs I usually get that 'working' icon. Maybe they should put a note above the submit button to remind people
"Delay in processing possible, click on button once only"

This is an attempt at a double post.........
*edit* It didn't work. How do you do it then? I clicked twice as fast as I could. :eh?:

sometimes when its slightly slow if you press the button again it will double post.
sometimes it doesn't look like its doing anything so i will go back a page and submit it. i sometimes end up with a double post but i always clean it up :)

Yes, all this related to the server hanging....Probably related to
the denial of service attack. It comes from clicking again after you
get no response after initially posting.

it's always happened. Usually with people on dial up, and clicking the button more than once.
If you PM me, I'll delete them.

What i don't understand, is can't people delete them by themselves. Isn't that "delete post" box still up there?
With vBulletin, you can set the amount of delay time a user has before he can post another post. I think the default is 30 seconds between each post, so it should prevent most accidental double postings...

yeech. double posting makes my skin crawl. If I ever do it, I'm quick to delete one of the posts. I wish more people knew how =(

here at purdue, when we fill out surveys online for my matlab class, if you click the submit button more than once, it pops up a little box that tells us to be patient because it's processing... i don't know how difficult something that would be to produce, but i just thought i would mention it...
