I just got an unused Acer flatbed for $25 bux. The scanner is a 320U model USB. The Text bridge 2.0 is lousy optical charictor recognition software. The good stuff FineReader 6.0 is way too expensive.

Anyone have a favorite that won't cost me ten times what I paid for the scanner?

Freeware or no nag shareware is best.

Too bad they want over $200 for Readiris Pro 8.

Thanx for the link. 30 days trial sure beats just 15 uses for FineReader6.

Anyone know of any others?

I finally got TextBridge to work. You got to rotate the scanned text image so it's nightside up running left to right. Then manually select each block of text you want to recognize. If you don't orient it and manually select, but just let it auto recognize, you just get nonsense.

Thanx for all the responses and links.
