thermal pads...one use?

I attached my current hsf w/ the stock pad. Can I remove the hsf and put it back on without having to change the pad? I'm thinking of connecting those L1 bridges but I don't have any therm compound with me right now.

As far as I have seen yes, they get squished pretty badly so unless it comes off cleanly you probably can't use it again, and it really isn't a good idea either. Pickup some Artic Silver II or some thermal grease before replacing it. Just make sure to get the old thermal pad completely off before using any AS or grease.
