View Full Version : Overclockers making me Blind!
Just a small detail, yet very important for this bird.
I have trouble reading the negative typestyle or font used in the forums default style.
White on black is very hard for me to read. :bang head
Is there any way to select another forum-view, please?
Thanks for any help
best wishes,
Ugly
I find it quite easy to read. Since you've just joined, you may not have adapted to the colours yet so you might want to give it sometime. The first time we were fooling with different colors I really wasn't used to this look and days later everything seemed normal.
Black is a hard color to work with but it's really easy on the eyes therefore we chose that color. We chose grey since white seemed too 'flashy' and it strained our eyes and grey was legiable while maintaining a nice look.
Hoped that helped. Feel free to comment.

yeah i think its very easy to read, maybe ur used to other forum colors?
I spend about 4 hours a day in front of AutoCAD. About 2 years ago, I decided to make the draft space black. It has made such a big difference in how tired my eyes are at the end of the day.
I don't think I would be able to spend as much time on these forums if white was the background color.
yep light text on dark backround is always easier to read. its been proven in numerous studies.
i can (and do) read the forums for hours on end without getting any eye strain.

Done it both way, no problems for me. ;)
I can see this being a problem for some people though...I'm going to see what we can come up with in the way of alternative viewing styles. :sn:
Yeah I have to agree, I find dark background/light coloured text to be easy on the eyes. Perhaps, as a temporary fix you can increase the size of the text while on these forums. If you have a wheel mouse just hold down the control key on the keyboard and scroll the wheel down to increase the text size, hold ctrl and scroll up to change it back.
But my main reason for posting was because of Thelemac's post... I see we now have shirt ninja smilies :sn: cool, Ive been hoping more smilies would be added.
As I have gotten older I have noticed a steady decline with my eyesight, and have been very pleased at the ease of reading with the new forums color scheme...Excellent. :D
Please don't change a thing...

Well although I too agree that the grey background works, I don't see why you guys don't offer a choice. It would be nice if people are free to choose the colors that suite them best. Even if they are a few limited choices. If you create CSS sheets, and define different colors in each one, then all a person has to do is click which one they like, and the information will be stored in a cookie that will load everytime they visit the page. So you could choose the defualt colors, or something else that's available. Or if you guys are really good at programming, you could allow people to choose their own colors, which will then be stored in a cookie.
Choice is always good :), and for a lot of people it will be nice change as well.
Something to consider.
Oh I have seen this done on other websites, so it does work, and it looks nice too.

Well some people might have a black/white deficiency, where the difference between the two colors becomes hard to distinguish. Well in this case i would suggest he just highlight the words he is reading. That will change it to blue on white I think.
Yeah White text on dark backgroud is easy to read, but black text on a white backgroud is very hard on my eyes i.e in windows

I have worked with both release 14 and I now use AutoCAD 2002, and the deafault model space is black. Personaly, I prefere to change it to a very dark blue. because it reduces contrast and, and studies show that blue is one of the best colors for your eyes.
