I have the asus a7a266 also and flashed the bios to 1004. I had a coolermaster HSF and saw my temp was up to the high 50's & low 60's C. I couldn't stand that so I bought the Globalwin Copper heatsink and articsilver II. And would you believe no change at all?????? I finally said F' it. This was driving me crazy. I never thought about flashing back. I'll try that.
1400 TBird @ 1500. Whimped out on oc'ing more because of temp.

ok, well first off the asus probe usually reads about 7-10C hotter. Next off, what are your case temps, those are awful temps with a CAK-38.

My case temp is around 27 C. Everywhere I searched I saw people with the same problem. I think there must be a problem with the reading from the probe.
Just flash back to the old bios at less your planning on overclocking right now, that's what i did. The new bios has raised my temps and i think everyone elses about 10 degrees. I dont think your temps actually rise but I think its a bios error

in general there seems to be a major problem with Asus temp sensoring, the best thing to do is get an external temp sensor and up it on the cpu, this should give the best readings
