View Full Version : My 1st OC
well I'm doin' it. Don't laugh, I'm new at this.
The first thing I did was add 3 new fans, 2 TT Smart fans 1 intake & 1 exhaust & a Crystal Orb on the Chipset. I have a Volcano 6cu+ and a 60mm Sunon mounted over my ram.

how interesting, when i first started really overclocking i too was on a shuttle board, it was a revision 1 and i had an 800mhz t-bird on her at the time.. ahh memories :D
good luck!
Welcome to the forums! and grats on your first oc
I just bumped up the X to 14 and it's running at1409Mhz at 30 C
I'm doing for 15 next
you should raise your fsb and lower multi instead of just upping the multi becasuse of the mem bandwidth increase
With 4 memory modules you will have a hard time getting high bus speeds (which is really what you want to start raising if you want to see any real results in bandwidth / 3d performance).

Have fun OCing. Trying to raise the FSB would be good, even if it isn't very high.
I guess the memory could be a setback if one module doesn't want to run faster.

actually up to 133 fsb these (pc2100) mem modules should work fine even wit 4.. try to do 10x133 or 11x133 see if its stable

Hey, Thanks for the info guys. I'll tri this tonight. I have tried raising the Fsb but at 133x10 it wouldn't boot completely. at 120x10 it ran at 1200 Mhz with no prob. 110x13 ran at 1430 O.K also. so I geuss know I need to know what I'm trying to accomplish. I just want it to run faster, Duh! But maybe I can remove the 2 128's ? You tell me. I also had it running at 112x13
it was running at 1456 31C 224 Fsb. but it didn't boot evvery time? So any hints will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, MGEE;)

I would remove the 2 128 MB memory modules. Most likely you don't need them anyway. That should allow you to run at 133 FSB all the time. Welcome to the club, we were all new here at one time or another. Just keep an eye on your temps and make sure the rig is stable. Nothing worse than an unstable computer to make people swear off overclocking.
Do you know if I could put 2700 or above ram in my PC? It's set up for 1600/2100. Can you go into the DRAM Frequency or DRAM Clock settings and change it? Just curious.
