no! stay away, get corsair, and do a search for geil ram on these boards to see for yourself

thanks... I did that... apparently they had a bad batch of DDR....

I guess Cosair is worth the money

I want to order a new power supply... I am very upset with this turbolink 430w that came with the new case .... I cant oc as much compare to my old 300w powersupply. I tried to set the vcore to 1.85v at stock speed... bios posts... windows xp loads... then.... my digital doc 5 alert sound for low 5v.... it drops to 4.75v then my window xp blue screen.

Well... it was a cheap power supply....

I love my geil....pc3500 ult plat 4.5 ns does 195 cas 2 2-5-2 @ 2.6 volts

My corsair experience has been bad so far since I ordered a 512meg pc3200 cas2 that wont run at cas2 period....but im thinking its a bad stick because even if I attempt to run it at 2.5 ns I get tons of page fault errors.

Every review Ive seen of geil ram has been good, Id buy from them again

Btw: their memory heatspreaders are by far the coolest looking of any memory stick

That absolutely sounds like a bad stick of memory to me. Never heard that about XMS before.

Well, my GeIL PC3200 Ultra runs at 214fsb (428ddr) 2-6-3-3 timings at 2.7v. That's my every day setting, but for benchmarks I have it running at 220fsb (440ddr) with the same timings. I'd have to say, this ram is very nice.

if you want fast and good memorys you should buy corsair, twinmos, OCZ, mushkin or xtreme.

If you want a sure thing go with Corsair or Mushkin, I dont know if I got lucky or what with this Geil I bought, but its very good and will go toe to toe with Corsairs XMS 3200

Not to mention it was 'refurb', I was very surprised to say the least

It is good to hear you had such good luck with yours. I think the OCZ connection the GEIL memory has puts a bad taste in most peoples mouth before they even try it though.

LOL, how do you 'refurb' ram? Did some newbie just send it back because it didn't work for them, and it just ended up that they were trying to seat it upside down? RAM is pretty solid state, so I dont think it could be refurbed without replacing a lot of chips.

refurb isn't always a manufacturing flaw. could be a number of things. with motherboards sometimes just missing something as trivial as a manual means it must be sold as a refurb.

If an item is sold once and returned, it can NEVER be sold as new again. That is probably the reason why. Just a returned item.

Geil and OCsystem.com are both run by Encore Innovations

I was wondering what kind of moron would return such a good stick.....

It was definitely put in a memory slot as I looked at the gold contacts and they had wear.

I recieved a dead XMS stick a few months ago, but Corsair has great support and gave me no hassles when I RMA-ed it...

well. I have only had a stick of this geil pc 3500U platinum for a short time (like 12 hours) but it has passed every single torture test i have put it though. I am very stisfied with it and when i volt mod this motherboard, ill be pushing it faster. I wish I had an nforce 2 chipset if ONLY for the locked pci agp.. kt 400 has no 1/6 div so it makes it hard to go up to 200 mhz reliably.

I have heard so much good about geil.. i would be curious to see where you guys are getting the bad from :(

Well, I am receiving my 512MB GEIL PC3500 Platinum in a day and I will post my results. Going into the rig in my sig.

"I have heard so much good about geil.. i would be curious to see where you guys are getting the bad from. "

There was several threads started here at oc.com about the OCZ ram and encore Inc. Mr. Natural had the whole scoop on them with other people adding their info and experiences. Even I had fallen for the OCZ scam... Anyway the mods, owners, ect.. here at oc.com didn't want the bad publicity, for whatever reasons and practically banned everyone from talking about the OCZ encore problem in any detail. And they pulled the threads. NOT locked them, but pulled them. There was just too much in the threads to try and explain here, but all the investigative work was legit with one feller living practically at OCZ Systems/encores back door. He furnished pics and all.

Anyway I had an absolutely terrible experience with OCZ ram and OCZ Systems, trying to return it. Never did get it returned. OCZ Systems was having so many problems they even temporily closed their website and online store. Others vendors, what few there were had to pull the ram also. A lot of people never got their warrantees honored. That's enuff for me.............

Cheers,
Mike
PS: Hope they don't pull this/my post untill some of you read it.

I'm familiar with most of what was written in that post by Ed.
However my contention then, as now, and as always; If it's the truth and can be proven, then there's nothing to worry about. There was more than enough evidence and facts to prove some sort of conapiracy/connection between the company in question and their front companies. There can be no denying that, unless someone here went to HUGE amounts of trouble to frabricate a VERY large deception. And I don't think that is the case because of the time effort, money and energy that would be involved.

My only problem was I hated to see the thread, and I believe it was more than just 1 thread, pulled from here just because someone gets scared when someone else hollars lawsuit! I find it odd that Ed and many others has went to such extremes criticizing HardOCP and yet wanted to avoid anything having to do with OCZ Systems and encore!?

With all that being said, I personally believe with no doubt that encore Inc is nothing more than a front run by shysters. I don't want anything they got. I don't wish to be involved with them for any business. Personally from all I know, all I am trying to do is to help others avoid the same problems that costed so many others of us money, time and headaches.

Cheers,
Mike

Unless you can show me 100% PROOF then please drop this issue. As far as the allegations there was not absolute proof and unless 100% positive there is liability on our end and since we don't have the time nor funds to get into a legal fight that thread was removed.

I'll tell you one more thing, you've stated your opinion and this thread will be locked if it continues to be an anti OCZ/Encore. Each person is entitled to thier opinion, but this thread will not turn into the thread that was removed.

OK np, I'm dropping the issue. I only responded to what people, inparticularlly the newbies was inquiring about.

Now while you're banning threads, don't be so hypocritical and how bout banning your threads bashing HardOCP?

Nothing wrong with oc.com. It's a pretty decent place. But no matter how good anything or anyone is, we all have our bias, er faults. Me included.

Cheers,
Mike

I take GREAT offense to your last statement, This is not [H] and the staff here have FULLY explained the situation.

(BTW I am not the greatest supporter of OCZ, but still until fact are proven, slander isn't called for)

My point is this thread is about Geil not OCZ and your opinion was stated and theres no reason to turn this thread into a muck-fest

If you have trouble with OCZ and/or any of the companies that you believe are associated with it, and you believe it is fraudulent and wish to take action, contact a lawyer and ask them to consider filing a class action lawsuit. I believe there may be enough evidence.

BUT

Details and allegations posted here are dangerous.
You can stick to the facts, the ones that you can prove, but speculation is dangerous.

I know that I got a POS stick from OCsystem. I was never able to contact them in order to RMA the stick. I believe that OCsystem, OCZ, and Geil are related. I believe most of the reviews at resellerratings.com are correct. Therefore, I suggest that Geil be avoided.

Now I can say all that, without much risk.
I don't want this website shut down due to losing a defamation law suit. I don't want this website to shut down because of all the expenses it would incur sucessfully defending itself against a defamation law suit.
So I agree as to why the thread was removed.

Heard some bad things about Geil customer service. Corsair is real good about RMAing. If the stick won't do what it's rated out (which will satisfy most people), they will gladly exchange it.

so anyone got some benchies of geil ram? lets see how it stacks up against the competition.
