What is the better cooling HSF for the 9700pro, the ATI Retail HSF (http://images2.newegg.com/productimage/14-102-243-06.JPG) or the Sapphire HSF Small Pic (http://www.sapphiretech.com/images/9700proatlantisboard.jpg) / Big Pic (http://www.sapphiretech.com/media/9700pro/9700-P2%20copy.jpg)

well with no feedbacks on these coolers i will get the Sapphire 9700pro with their HSF, not the ATI's reatl HSF. The cheapest place i have found with the custon Sapphire HSF is here - http://www.compuplus.com/insidepage.php3?sid=65jr2i76o32dtxh&id=1000327
It is $320 + $15 S&H.

If anyone knows a cheaper place to buy this please let me know. Thanks :)

I'm not to sure that is the heat sink the 9700 Sapphire comes with.I own the 9700 Sapphire and it come with the stock ati heat sink.I replaced mine with crystal orb.

O and NewEgg.com (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?DEPA=1&submit=manufactory&catalog=48&manufactory=1561&description=&page=2) has them for 322 shipped.

yeah but the ones that Newegg sells doesnt have the sapphire fan. Go to http://www.sapphiretech.com and check out their 9700pro model, as you will see they do make their 9700pro cards with the Sapphire orb HSF. I read some reviews at www.hardocp.com and they said the Sapphire HSF is quite and cools very well...and thats exactly what i am looking for.

Hmmm I would give it a shot then but I trust [H] with a grain of salt.

lol, I have never modded a video card before and i dont want to mess around with a $320+ Radeon 9700pro. This is why i want to buy the best 9700pro with stock cooling. If i had a step by step tutorial with pictures then MAYBE i would try it. ;)

It is not simple at all to get the stock heat sink off a radeon 9700.I don't know how sapphire does it with the new heat sink but between the mounting pins and the shim it was not easy.
