Is there a difference in the color of the cover on the samsung pc800 rdram?

i see some stores with cheaper prices have blue yet the higher stores have the silver and are a few bucks more expensive.

is the blue stuff old? and would that affect overclocking?

ok. i found a reference to the blue that was 8 device (single sided).

so is the silver 16 device (double sided) better than the 8 device?

i would think fewer devices means fewer places to have error but also twice the load per device.

anyone?

I'm pretty sure that lower density (RDRAM with more modules) is better for overclocking. So the double-sided, 16 device Samsung RDRAM would be better. This is probably because the load is spread over more chips and reduces heat.

very true. hadn't thought of the heat issue.
