256 3200 Corsair For Games?

I have 512 2100 right now in my system i want to get a stick of 256 Corsair 3200 or possibly 3500 but i dont want to spend to much. Would i loose to much performance if i just got a stick of Corsair 2300/3500 256mb? and later added another 256? If it matters im a gamer and i mostly play BF 1942...W3 and Unreal Tournment 2003

for a 98se runned OS, that wud suit fine. On an XP maybe 512 wud do.

you could use 256mb on xp just tweak it a whole lot. my friend is using 256mb of generic pc2100 and it runs good in games ,but it doesnt work good when he has a lot of apps open
