I have XP Cooperate Pro and on my main comp it will no longer update no matter if the windows site is check or the automatic is on. It will start the scan and immediatly say no updates are available. Is this happening because I have tried a failed attempt of installing SP1 on the comp? The computer I'm on now has the same copy of XP Pro and I just updated it fully except for SP1. The only difference is that I havent tried SP1 on that comp. The other comp hasn't been able to update for about a month now.
Do you think a simple repair or reformat ~ reinstall will fix this problem or does anyone know of a way to fix this inside of windows? I'm grateful for any help.

SP1 lets MS know if you have a HOT copy of XP.

yeah I got that on my main comp that has the same copy of XP on it with the same serial number. The wierd thing is that windows will alow me to update on my old comp with the same version...
Windows Update will halt its detection if it finds a warez product key used to install your Windows. SP1 also has a checker to determine if you are eligible to upgrade.

so would a reformat fix this?
Umm...I'd update to SP1 first, that should solve any problems...
If SP1 won't install because of an invalid key, maybe try calling Microsoft to verify your Corporate key or purchase XP Pro at a local store.
