AOM too slow ?

I downloaded the AOM demo, and when I try to play it, it takes a couple of seconds (about 10-20 seconds) for the thing to respond. I mean, the graphics are smooth and everything, it's the game itself that's slow. Problem with my ram or graphics card ?? System is a P3 900, 192MB RAM and a Vanta 16MB graphics card
