Ok heres the deal My 2.66 Abit BD7-II system just died! I only had it at 1.7v for about 3 months. It was on water and ran around 33c average. One day apps just started failing, it degraded over 3 days and now i can no longer can boot past the bios. Even with the clock down to 2.0Ghz and default all the way around. I have changed the memory so I have eliminated it from the loop, only the CPU and MB remain. I do not have any friends with a Socket 478 chip or MB to swap out with to test that way… so am I screwed? Is there a utility around somewhere that I can use to see if the i845 chipset is ok?
Some info you may find helpful:
Any attempt to install the OS results in file copy errors from the cd in the initial stages at any CPU speed. Deafult was 2.66 I have tried as low as 2.0Ghz same issue
When running Memtest86 off of a floppy at default V-CPU I get a groups of errors in divisions of 1024 at every xxx.1mb and xxx.6mb.
Also what is the cheapest chip I can buy to drop in (maybe ill buy one to test with, and to have as a backup if I can get a real cheap one)
