I am going to ask for computer parts for christmas, so i can actually build my first computer:D so i was wondering if people could give me a list of the best, preferably(sp?) with a total of below 2,000
i already have the case and power supply

go to newegg and make a wishlist. You will find it is almost impossible for a dream computer to be over 2,000 dollars. Anyway, hat will you be using thia comp for? Gaming, Apps, etc....

Anyway, what wuzzapiman said is a good start, but make sure you have some RAID in there, preferably a 2-disk RAID 0 of WD SEs or IBM 180 GXPs. Also, take a serious look into watercooling, its not that hard, and boy is it worth it...

Personally, I would stay away from the Audigy. I've heard that the Hercules Fortissimo III is a great card. I have the Audigy and I am paying for it now. The drivers are pretty much a joke. Not to mention that the advertised 24-bit is not really there. I'm not sure about the Audigy II though.

Other than that, wuzzapiman's list looks very very nice. :)

Nvidia GeForce 4 4600 some brand... and a 17-21 inch flat CTR or CTR? i forget monitor
1G of Corsair XMS 3500 (2 512 sticks... or 512 tot 2 256 sticks)
2 80G WD SpE HDD for RAID 0 or jsut 2 of them or 120GB one if extra money
2 more PCI vid cards (cheap ones) and 2 chepo 15 or 17 inch momnitors... (the monitors could mak eu go way over though) for a 3 monitor setup

somre realyl good 500watt PSU
prometia cooled or nice water cooling (proly mak eit go over if prometia... bu that can be fixed /w some downgrades ion other places
