Lapping, how....

What is lapping? How do I do this process? What are the pros/cons?

Lapping is simply sanding. To lapp a heatsink you need some very fine sandpaper and a flat surface like a piece of glas. All you do is carefuly sand the bottom of the heatsink untill it is smooth. I like to use a little polish after that to get a mirror finish. Motheres polish works great on aluminum.
