I don't have the link to the articles, I will search for it, but if u want, for 20 bucks you can just get your own dedicated psu for that thing.

Its an ATX psu with 25 amps on the 12v rail. I bought 2 and I have 1 powering my 266w pelt. Its working flawlessly so far, been running for 30 minutes. . .

haven't hooked it up to a proc yet. . . though I could, now that I got everything working. LOL. I was so uswed to waiting till I got some part. . . Now that I ahve everything, I guess I can go ahead and build my comp. . . Dont' understand what u mean by higher vid card temp. What do u mean?

jeez thats a ton of amps on the 12v line, I wonder how they managed to do that, I dont think my enermax 430watt does:confused:
I would like to warn you that I have seen many cases where a normal psu basicaly blows when running a pelt on it for a long time.
theres a sticky in the powersupply and case section that will tell you how to hook 2 psu's in series or parrellel. For the ATX you just need to connect the green and back wire together to get the psu to run.

what do u think i should do buy that 400w psu or buy 2 250 psus and conect them together also i want a new psu for my pc should i use that 400w one
ookabooka when i said that my vid temps would go up because tecs get hotter than cpu so the warm water whould hit my vid card

oh, I see. Yes the water cooling your pelt will be hotter than just the cpu. I have been running that 400W supply for a couple hours now, and its working fine. I wouldn't really recommend it for a computer, because it doesn't have very high 5v or 3.3v rails. That is what you really need for a computer. . . 12 volts are more for hd's and cdroms. If your comp had 20 harddrives, and an amd-k6/2 then yeah. But if you got 1 hd and an Athlon 2100+ XP. . . .
edit: I would just go with the 400, since its less of a hassle. If it does blow out on you, you could send it in for warranty service :)

yes but if it blows up on you and you are not around thin you prolly toasted your cpu, mobo, and maybe memory. I would go with 2 300watts myself to make sure you have more amps thin you really need or just buy a bench powersupply.

no, no where near enough on the +12 rail. Only 15 Amps. Believe me, the PSU I showed you is gonna be the cheapest. It has been running for plenty of hours now straight and its still going strong. almost 12 hours straight. At 12 volts, a 226w pelt draws 19 amps. so getting 25 amps should be the bare minimum.
edit: Have a dedicated PSU for the pelt, and one for the comp. The pelt can take a much more variety of voltages than a comp. For instance, my pelt made my 12v rail drop from 12.00 to 10.72 Granted I dont' have any load on the 5v rail, and this could make a big difference, I'm still tinkering with it.

have u put it in your pc yet or is it still running outside

the 400 watt ps from dealsonic is a good deal for the money. they put out a max of 15 amps on the 12v rail. dont push it past 70%of its max amps. so for a 226 tec you need 2 of these power supplies, float the grd on one and diode isolate both on the 12v supply side. that"ll keep them from burnin up ........ flapperhead
Look for the Powmaxx 400W Psu. 12v line rated to 25 A. For $30 it cools pretty good ( poormans pelt supply ). Ive got it running my 226 , gets cold plate frosty. Idle 18C , load 24C.
I had to rig it to make it work of couse , I also used a 5ohm 10w resistor to load the 5v line , really seemed to help.

are you sure that 226 dosent draw 24A constant? I know mine does? or is it only 24A at 15.1v?
Warlord2

it will draw 24a if its running at 15.1v. I think it also depends on the load your putting on it. More load and thin more amps it will take.
