Maxtor LLF

Hi, i have a Maxtor 6L040L2 and i cant seem to find the tool on maxtor.com the tool is the FFL ( low level format ) i hear it a great tool to "realy" clean the hole drive, if you guys / and girls =p know of a other great too to "realy" clean the hard driver that would be super, i use Fdisk but working with linux now theres some errors using Fdsik.

Having a newer drive, you really cant low level format them anymore. Like you could the MFM/RLL drives in the 286 days. (Remeber the interleaving!!) :cool: I would try downloading maxtor's Powermax software. 1/2 way down the page, it says "! WARNING !: All data will be lost when the "Write Disk Pack (low level format)" test is performed. Maxtor recommends that users backup any/all critical data and removing other hard drives before performing this test." http://maxtor.com/en/support/downloads/powermax.htm

thanks im runing the test now i hope it all works out. im even gona do the re certification test to make sure its all good = )
