My friend's Compaq piece of junk recently got virused or something. He brought it over and I formatted it and reinstalled windows98 on it and then proceeded downloading drivers for it off Compaq's website on my computer. I burned them and popped them in his computer and noticed that I couldn't find the drive. I searched every where and the DVD drive wasn't detected at all. I tried the add new hardware crap but that didn't work.

Any ideas how to make it detect the DVD drive or where I can get the drivers for it? Windows98 installed fine on the drive, but for some reason it isn't detected, doesn't make much sense to me.

Is it on a separate IDE channel?

no it's coupled with a zip disk.

it appears to be detected when I unplug the zip and set the dvd to master

Sigh OKAY WTF? I just rehooked them back up again and now they all show up. I think it's fixed. Thanks for asking that question Stool, without it they'd never both be working :)

edit-update - blah DVD or IDE cable must be fugged, it wont show up after I rebooted
