Are they any 2.8 C1s or 2.53 C1s? how good of a overclock can I expect? how do I identify a C1 from a non C1 from it's packaging?
The best way to tell is to look up the S-spec code at the official Intel website. However, the easiest why is to just look at the default vcore voltage.
B0=1.5v and C1=1.525v
All 2.66 and 2.8 Ghz P4s are certainly C1 processors. I'm not sure about the 2.53 Ghz pieces...
As to the overclocking, C1s generally run stable at 3.2-3.4 Ghz on air.

there aren't 2.53's that are c1's, only the 2.5's.
I think the C1 stepping is finally trickling down into the 2.53, 2.4, 2.26, 2.0a and 1.8a, but you have to be careful, because most of them will still be B0 stepping. The only C1 1.8a CPUs I've heard about so far are OEM units sold to Dell etc. Eventually, all the Northwoods will be C1 steppings, but Intel will try to sell the old CPU stockpiles first. However, if you get a 2.5, 2.6, 2.66, 2.8, or 3.06 then you are guaranteed to get a C1 stepping, since they didn't make those in B0 stepping.
There are C1 2.53Bs, I just happened to get mine (an OEM) from an ebay trader that confirmed it for me.

Interesting..
Newegg has the 2.4B for 193shipped. But that doesnt confirm if its a b0 or a c1.. 225 over 193 is alot..
Depends on whether you want a guaranteed C1 or not. Newegg.com will be the luck of the draw.
