doesnt always read regular discs right. it burns fine.

should i flash it?

Check the revision history on the firmware before you upgrade and possibly talk to their support. The drive hardware may be defective and you may be able to RMA the drive. Under warranty, I'd only update if there is a specific fix for your issue listed in the revisions. If it's not under warranty, it might be worth a shot in any event.

if it was a lite-on OEM, flash it using Lite-on firmware .. I bought cendyne which turned out to be a lite-on rebadged, so I flashed it using lite-on firmware, and it has been running flawlessly ever since :)

how do you check? cause the drivers just say 48x12x50xCD-RW no manufacturer like normal.

Check the Win2K device manager. If it's a LiteOn it'll list the number on the device name, should be something like LTR-48125W. I think you have the same burner as me, and that's what mine is.
