Is a 9000 Pro really faster then a Ti4600 when AA and AF is on?

If its not at 1024 x 768 with 4 x AA and 8 x AF @ almost 60 FPS is pretty good.

That would make for a cheap card that give really nice game quality, for the money.

And please don't miss the "the 9000 Pro was acceptable except that is was prone to crashing". If that's accurate (remember this is Tom) then what good is speed if it's unstable?

I would just be shocked if this card is the one that can be had for dirt cheap now and if it really performs like this, excluding the crashes. There are people on these boards that have 9000 pro cards. Can they run games in 1024 x 768 with 4x AA and 8x AF with playable frame rates?

If they can then they are a heck of a lot better then I've been giving the credit for.

hahahah tom is an IDIOT....alright, there is no difference between an 8500 and a 9000Pro except the 9000 has a couple things missing, but i know for a fact that Ut2003 barely averages 45fps for me at 1024x768x32 with all AA and Aniso off....lol....i remember trying to jack up the settings and getting 10-15fps...no that benchy is bs...sorry to dissapoint:eh?:

I'm not seeing what you're seeing...the numbers are anything but the same....

The numbers for the 9000 are exactly the same with AF on or off (within 0.1 fps anyway). That could mean that someone at Tom's forgot to turn on AF for the test but I think more likely AF isnt properly implemented in the drivers they are using for the 9000 (so weither u turn it on or off it is still off).

I think its BS one way or the other. My 9000 doesnt run at 800 600 at above 40 FPS, everything turned down, so im sure these benchies are messed up!

the only video card in history that GAINS FPS with AA and ANISO on :eek: (even if it is only .1 fps)

tom has done it once again :p the sad thing is i know a few people that follow what he writes like it's a bible. i wonder how many people will run out and but the 9000 simply because of that banchmark :eh?:

Actually, my buddy has a 9000 PRO, and it's a great card, he can play UT2003 with stuff turned up, and at a res of 1024X768 as smooth as melted butter, I was happy with the card, the colour was much better than the Albatron Ti4200 I saw in the machine before I worked on his.

i do know that with full AA ane stuff the ATi Radeon 9700 drops a lot less propotiannoly in score than the a GeForece 4 Ti4600 with all that stuff... not to mention it is a lot faster. period. but then a gian it is kinda like next gen tech in comparison... i wanna see the FX.. kinda:D :eh?: :D

AFAIK the AA numbers are the same for both ATi and Nvidia, the difference is in the AF numbers.

ATI method - Nvidia Method
0 AF -0 AF
1x AF 4Tap AF
2x AF 8Tap AF
4x AF 16Tap AF
8x AF 32Tap AF
16xAF64Tap AF
128Tap AF
