For the people who just want to hear the facts I'll let you skip the rest. heres an excerpt: ...I received the arctic silver, removed my stock h/s clip and tried the impossible again. I happened to have a silver butter knife at my computer desk and decided to try breaking the clip in. I laid the clip upside down, placed the knife on top of the bend in the clip and pressed it down as far as I could a few times. Back to my cpu, I put the heat sink on and clipped on the clip. that easy. I think it might have been the fastest globalwin clip clipping ever. So if anybody gets a globalwin they might try it out....
I recently purchased a globalwin CAK38 and a cpu shim to go with it. I went to install it and even with the shim I was worried about crushing my processor. I finally gave up and used the clip from my old stock heat sink. On a side note one of the reasons I was reluctant to get it clipped on was that even if I did the seemingly impossible and got the clip to clip I knew I would need to take it off again since I was using tooth paste for thermal paste as I was waiting for my arctic silver II to come in. Yes it came with a square of pre apllied thermal paste but I removed and lost it for reasons I won't go into. The toothe paste actually work, at least better than nothing although the performance did decrease as time went by.
