I am currently running a 1.9 ghz Skt 478 chip. My question is, i bought the asus due to its supposed great overclocking ability. I however am only able to overclock this chip to a 118 fsb, is this due to the chip or could it be a motherboard prob? (btw, i am running @ 1.85v w/watercooling 40 deg under load)
my sys: Asus P4T533-C, P4 1.9@2.2, Danger Den Maze 3, 640mb PC800 RDRAM, Gf4 Ti4600, 2x120gig 7200RPM IBM Deskstars 1x80gig Maxtor 8mb cache , SB Live
It's clearly and definitely a CPU limitation. Willamettes just don't go above 2.2 Ghz. I know cause I still have one in the drawer...

Williamettes are just disaster cpus, idk why smart computer knowledgable people bought them, really confuses me. The Tualatans are much better than they are. Your not going to get high with that cpu, 2.2 is your limit most likely, and it might not even be stable, your better off replacing it with a 1.8a and you will see really good results.
As mentioned in the two previous posts, you are at the CPU's limit and probably have done better than most Willamettes. Time to invest in a Northwood P-4 if you want something faster.

TY for replying so fast! I thought it was the chip, time to look at the 2.6 400 mhz chips ;)

Williamette socket 478?
Williamette's were socket 423's....478's are northwoods.
Right?

Really? Ok, thanks for informing me :D
Yeah, I'm surprised those things ran as fast as they did with that .18 process

Just had to say;
I have a P4 1.5G @ 2GHz
FSB 133 Default Volts (1.750)
Asus P4B533 Mobo
Stock HS/Fan
20Gb HD
256Mb Seitec PC - 2700 Ram
Load temp of 39C at night 43C during day
So :oP
These temps were acheived by placing an 80mm Case fan opposite the CPU/HS assy an having it blow air via an INternal Duct made from a drink bottle strait onto the HS/Fan. Result is a Lower CPU Fan RPM and much lower CPU temp, With out the Fan running CPU is around 56 C +
