mmk...well i was installing the new nvidia drivers..and it asked me to uninstall the old ones before installing the new ones..so i did it. then it says, "you must restart the computer in order to complete the uninstallation, please press OK to restart" so i hit ok..and it closes the uninstall program, then it just sits at the install program..and doesnt do anything. so i go to start menu, and hit the restart button..it restarts, and after it posts...it shows the boot devices, then at the time its supposed to show the windows screen..it just restarts..one of my friends says my hdd is dead, but i wanted a second opinion..i put it back to stock speed and everything, stock timings, and put it on the fail safe settings in the bios...same thing, i changed out the video card..same thing. i dont know what the deal is....

You can always check the HDD with IBM's drive fitness test (or other utilities available from hard drive manufacture's website) if you have a floppy disk working

Unlikely to be your HDD - bear in mind it occured during the uninstallation phase for your NVidia driver. I just updated my Radeon drivers and it went screwy for a while during booting up. How exactly did you uninstall?

i went into the control panel, and add removed programs..then to the driver...
you think resetting the cmos would help?

Certainly wouldnt do any harm. Funny I couldnt uninstall my Radeon driver from there - had to go directly into the hardware configuration setup and remove from there. Someone else was posting about probs when uninstalling drivers just recently.

ok, its the hard drive, i put it as master in my other computer..and it did the exact same thing...my brother is gonna put it in his computer, or one of his friends is gonna put it in a linux box and save all my files..cause i have nothing backed up...so this kinda sucks
What version of windows are you running? I run win2k and before I disabled it, there was an "automatic reboot" option set by default if something doesn't go right during the boot. Have you tried safe mode at all? Just a thought.

Have you ever considered it to be corrupted perhaps?
Once you backup, try a reformat and see what happens.

yea, i tried safe mode..it did the same thing...im using xp pro...no service pack 1...i was using the 41.03 beta drivers from guru3d.com if it matters
Have you tried the recovery console and attempted to repair Windows even?

Stay well away from the nvidia beta drivers.
They suck big time, caused me nothing but trouble.
The only safe way i fould to remove the drivers was with the new version of detonator deleter (guru3d site).

well..i started the windows setup thing..that takes me to the option to start the recovery console..and while its checking my hardware, it restarts..just like normal...im presently on the phone with and IBM tech..
i got everything backed up on my brothers computer..thank God he got two 80gb hard drive..lol. so i can format if i need to, but do you think a low level format would do the job?
