I am trying to get the most out of my Maxtor ATA133 HDD and I am conufused on all the specs for motherboards. It seems all the ones that support ATA133 have RAID some were after it. I am new to computers and I didn't know if that is still through a standard ATA cable or through a add on PCI card.

I was kind of thinking about getting a ASUS P4G8X, but then I would have to use seriel ATA and I didn't know if there was any way to use that hard drive on a seriel ata. Any ideas?

I am pretty open to using a different board. I would like to have AGP8X, USB2.0, ATA133, and i was thinking dual channel DDR would be nice. I guess i could stay with rambus though. Or would PC400 be a better way to go?

I read some were Intel might be releasing a chipset that supports dual channel PC3200 soon. What else would it have? I hope it would have AGP8X?

:D

I can dream right? I guess I really need to find a way to get the 133 from that drive. Are there any drives out using seriel ATA? Or any way to adapt a parallel ATA to a seriel ATA?

i would either get a raid ata133 or wait until serial ata.

Or just put it on ata 100 . The gain in performance is very little and you can save money on the 133 card.
