OK here's the deal.. I put a dvd in everything looks fine.. I can access it and even read files from it (i.e. copy one of the files onto my harddrive)... but when I try and play the damn thing in any DVD player (I tried three different ones) my system reboots instantly..

I tried uninstalling the dvd drive and rebooting .. etc. Didn't work.

My drive is a Toshiba 40 X i think..

My system consists of Abit BP6 2x366 celerons oc'd to 512, ATI AllinWonder Radeon, SB Live, 3COM NIC, and a IBM 14GB drive on master IDE channel 1 with the DVD drive as the slave...running Win2k SP3..

Oh and BTW this thing was working fine previously.. I must've installed some software or something or.. windows is getting depressed.

Thanks!

Uninstall your chipset busmaster IDE drivers, restart, and install them again (be sure they're up to date). I had a similar problem (no reboot, but I had no video after a drive worked fine for months)--that took care of it.
