Just got my new CPU+mobo.

I'm waiting for P4 1.8 c1 to show up, until then I thought I'll give it a try with a 2G Celly

I had to choose between a i845 PE made by Asus or Gigabyte and I chosed the last mainly because of the price, but also the stability proven by this MB

Currently writing on a Asus CUSL2 + 1 Ghz OCed to 1.45 Ghz Tualeron. I will miss some of the features of Asus, but hopefully Gigabyte won't be to bad either

I'll be back with more info after I set up my box.

I have heard Gigabyte boards don't OC well. Don't have any first-hand experience though. I think the Asus board would be a better OC board.

After working on the system all sunday+saturday I've got some results:

Boot @ 3.1 Ghz, won't load windows XP (it may boot at higher speeds though, will try again when CPU is cooler)

TOTALY Stable @ 3.0 Ghz :D , 1.75v, BUT I have some heat problems as the CPU runs @ about 58-60  degrees C

Running right now @ 2.9 (145 bus) , 1.625v, that's +0.1 voltage increase over default. At full load it stays at 48 degrees, idle - 37 degrees :)

I must say I am VERY pleased about the O/C.

Not so pleased about the MB - GOOD stability for O/C, but misses some features - has ONLY 1 temp and 2 FAN readers, and I was used to my CUSL2 having 3 temps and 3 fans (i have a temp probe that I use for testing temp in different areas) :(. But, I guess the price/perf is better for Gigabyte (about 1/2 price of Asus)

I may change the board as it seems it doesn't support variable fan speed

I will be back with bench results, right now starting to tweak memory (Samsung Chips)
