Anyone know if RAM heatsinks are any good and/or needed if overclocking?

Well, it can't hurt, but their benefit is marginal at best.

I have yet to read any hard evidence that they're justified.

waste of time and money in most cases.
even the heatspreaders u see on corsiar id say even make heat worse than they help.

only in extream ocing when the vdimm is over 3v id say it might help.
mines at 2.8vdimm and just get warm while running burnins on em.

Although the gains of using them is marginal, the more volts used the more you may benefit from them.

I'd like to see proof that they make it worse, as the W/cm-K of the thermal tape and the metal used is better than air alone

They can't hurt, but I wouldn't expect overclocking heaven from them.
