I see the Radeon 9500/9700 series with the floppy connector for power. I see the Nvidia GFFX with a power connector. Where the heck are the AGP Pro connectors? It would make more sense since the voltage regulators wouldn't need to be so beefy since the voltage supplied would be much closer to the chip's and ram's needs. Who wants a cable draped across the middle of the case just for the dumb GPU? All high end boards have the Pro slot. You can stick a Pro card into a reg slot also I believe, so why don't those guys make the cards handle it? AGP Pro is meant to supply 50W for Pro50 and 100W power for the Pro100 slots. What gives?

they wont sell....most people dont have uber boards with AGP Pro slots...in fact very few do....i would not upgrade my mobo just for a new video card

How about the Soyo dragons? I think AGP Pro is reverse compatible with AGP, but not sure. Look at the tabs o nthe back of cards. Aren't they the same shape as AGP Pro cards? Mobo makers would follow suit in time if the cards required it.

imho they would have to wait until at least 90% of computers had AGP Pro slots, not everyone has a new computer....

I know my KT400 Dragon Ultra has the AGP Pro slot with the connection right above it for AGP Pro cards. My father's Dragon + has the AGP Pro slot as well. Right now tho I'm using a GF4 Ti4600 in the slot.
Cards like FireGL and Quadro use AGP pro slot.
Not all the mobos have AGP PRO slot, so there is no point to make gaming cards that can not be used in some gaming mashines.
My Asus A7V333 has AGP Pro, and I always wondered what was the difference. I guess AGP Pro can supply more juice to the card?

Yes. Pro50 gives you 50W, and Pro100 gives 100W extra juice. Normall I think the slots are restricted to 25W power.
Why not make the cards backwards compatible with power cords and slot power capabilities?
I would add few $ to production costs.

Normal slots supply a max of 40w.
Pro50 isn't that much of a difference

What's a few dollars to a $400 card?
Oh, I thought they were 25W. Maybe the newer slots handle more. Pro100 makes sense. Gives extra development room before needing a different cooling scheme. If the chip is pulling 100W it has to get rid of it also.

I agree that card companies SHOULD use those connectors. I mean, why not? You can't really say that "Not everyone has a Pro slot" because that is true but kinda silly too. Any newer card that needs the extra power isn't gonna run on a machine without the slot worth sh*t anyways. Most people would upgrade (I would think anyways) to something that could USE those cards effectively. Asus already puts those slots on all thier mobo's anyways! People upgrade thier mobo's for new CPU's...why not new AWESOME video cards?
