Fan Bearing

alright..
inside (some fans) there are 2 metal bearings and 1 spring..
i need to make the i.d. of one of the bearings a tad bigger......
so i tried drilling the inside wiht a sllightly larger bit then the hole..

but for some reason the little tiny bearing is resisting the drill bit..
i couldn't even tell if i took a drill to it or not..

help here...

What kind of drill bit are you using? If your using black oxide it just isn't going to do it. Try using a cobalt drill bit. They are designed to cut through harder metals. They sell them at Sears.
