My roomate just put the new Nvidia 41.09 drivers on his system which is:

Athlon XP2000+
Geforce4 Ti4200
512mb DDR ram
Asus A7V333 mobo

After installing the drivers, he rebooted the computer but instead of starting up normally it went to the windows XP disk checking program that usually runs when you don't shut down the computer properly. After the disk and file checking get to 100%, the report comes up that tells how many files and folders were repaired, etc. Now, the problem is that this screen never goes away. As that screen remains on the screen, through the computer speakers you can hear the Windows XP startup noise, MSN noises, etc. The computer is running normally, but there's no way to see anything but the disk checking screen.

I've tried loading up safe mode but that's a no go also. Any suggestions on how to get this driver off the system (if that's what I need to do)?

Thanks for any help!!!

Oh yeah, safe mode won't load up because when it shows all the drivers or files loading up, the system freezes when it gets to Windows\System32\Drivers\Mup.sys

Your roommate might be able to bootup using "The last known good configuration" option (selectable from the F8 options menu), but I believe he/she'll probably have to do a repair install of XP, since booting into SafeMode isn't an available option in his/her case. The following MSKB article explains in detail how to perform a repair install...

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;315341) ;)
