will it run on a 450 celeron with 128 ram, i can upgrade to 256 is it needs it. I'm thinking about getting xp pro, if it'll run on the second comp then I probably will.

will I lose much performance in games??? my bro plays cs on there, it's not great but it keeps him occupied (he's in 3rd grade)

for games the downside will probably be your video card and the memory it has not the OS or RAM

Get the extra RAM, XP loves RAM. I am not saying it will not run just that more RAM could not hurt;) (I got WinXP Pro running on a P1 200MHz Pro, 256MB RAM at home, not the quickest though:eek: )

the cpu will be fine, but get more ram.
with 256mb of ram it won't chug as much as it will with 128mb.

hehe I beat you. I ran XP on a Pentium 90 w/72 mb ram. Disabled all the "cute" stuff and made sure no extra services were running, and it actually wasn't too bad (for internet browsing and such)

It should and will run fine. With 128mb of ram it will run fine but may chug or lag on games just depends on video. I run it on a amd 950@1018mhz and 640 mg of ram so I dont see much lag. My p90 is in the garage holding down concrete

I've got XP pro running on my laptop with 128MB ram. With the usual cute stuff turned on, I haven't really noticed any noticeable slow down compated to my desktop with 512MB.

I have Xp Pro running and I have 256 megs of ram. I managed to cut the total system useage of ram down to just 30 megs. Xp is nice, just has too many threads running at once. heehee

Anything will work on XP as long as XP lets you install it.

My Compaq 350MHz w/256MB ram works- and my dads 128MB HP works too.

I would say a minimum of 256mb RAm for winxp you'll surprised at the difference

select adjust for best performance
