yeah, thats right, I have an engineering sample running at 300/650 default! lol, atleast thats what it tells me at startup, engineering smaple, not for production....oh, maybe thats because I just flashed the BIOS with an edited version using Ray Adams NVIDIA BIOS editor, either way, WOHOO!
Kerry <----flashed both his video card and motherboard with new edited BIOS files today
nice job my man how high can you push that babdboy

dont know yet, maybe i'll work on that today, nothing better to do, but I will leave 300/650 as my default since that is the 4600 speed right?
Kerry
I believe you are correct though my current p.o.s card is an ati rage 128/xpert2000 oc'd to 115/115. soundslike crap but its orig is 90/90. over 50% increase in 3d mark though its from 450 to 900

welp, just got back from my "extensive" 3DMark testing, and surprisingly, it ran without a cough at 300/690!!! I cant go any higher on the memory though, why? Oh, because thats where the slider stops! lol, I upped the core to 305, it ran fine, then tried 315, and it froze at like the second car chase scene, it may have run at 310, but meh, i dont want to push the core higher than 300, I heard this card has heat problems with the core.

try a different program. you should be able to go much higher with rivatuner on the ram.
my slider for my ti4400 goes up to 800+ rofl. like it'll ever do that.
maxvla changed you sig i see. you tappin that fine a** or what.
also if you are using powerstrip just5 click on the mem icon in the optins scrrenand you can adjust the percentage of availible overclock.

IT7 Max with modded C6 BIOS
another surprising (atleast to me) development, I took off my side panel and touch the side of my finger to the RAM sinks and they cant be any hotter than room temp! I touched everywhere on this card (yeah, thats right, EVERYWHERE, lol) and I didnt find anywhere that seemed hot at all! I wish I could actually tell what temp it is more preisely, but I should be able to go much higher without temp problems I guess. I couldn't see who made the ram for it without turning the case upside down or removing the card, both of which are a project for another day, but it does have the holes in the ram sinks, as someone had mentioned in another post.

PS: I agree with your avatar Cullam, I want to know where all the returned Albatrons are going? Newegg must have a warehouse full, and also will download RivaTuner, I've tried Powerstrip on a friends comp with mixed results, I may give it a second chance though
cullam3n thanks for the pick it illustrated my point perfectly I'm too lazy to to it now. sundays are for football and beer
How did you get ahold of that? I sent in my Albatron about 3 days ago, do you think ill get the same version back or maybe possibly a better one from newegg?
KerryrreK

yes, you'll get the same version (although hopefully without the tearing issue)
I bought mine at the end of October from newegg, apparently there was a switch to cheaper memory causing poor overclocking after I bought mine, and if thats the case you wont get the good card unless you buy it from somewhere it has sat on a shelf for 3 months, or used.

Why did you install a new bios on the VC? Does it make it overclock better or something? Mine does 315/720 without a bios mod. New us in on this, cause if this new bios is a lot better, it would be nice to share.

Nice card!
Are you serious about them putting crappy mem on the turbos now? That would be total BS. Make a great product, then when it gets a good reputation screw all the buyers to make a few extra bucks?!?!

It's not a new bios, I just changed the BIOS so that it would default to 300/650, this way the card is always at 300/650, even if I took it out and put it in another machine or something. Normally, mine would always go back to the 250/555 or whatever the default was on startup, now it always goes back to 300/650!
also, Im not too sure on the card memory change issue, its something I read it another thread

kerry do you know aney thing about the albatron ti4200p 128 on newegg thy had sume but dont know if its good or not can i overclock it not to much imfo there did sume looking but no good ty
There were 2 changes from the first batch to the second batch.
Firstly its the ramsink, the design is different.
Secondly, Albatron changed the ram manufacturer from Etrotech to Samsung. They are both still 3.3ns BGA ram, but as you all know, Samsung ram isn't the ram we wanted.(See those Gainward Ti4200, their memory OCing isn't good at all, and they used Samsung).
The first batch's ramsink got a hole with straps in the middle.
The second batch doesn't.

I wonder why they changed RAM.
May be Samsung costs cheaper, don't really know...

Dear customer,
To keep sharp in the market, Albatron will continuously to remodel it's products by using newest components.
Unfortunately, support department can not tell what is the schedule and which chip is going to used on a new model, and you can get this information by contacting Albatron's headquarter in Taiwan.
The manufacture setting for the Ti4200P turbo video card as follow,
Core frequency: 250 MHz
RAM frequency: 552 MHz
It is overclocking if the video card is run at higher, and Albatron does not warranty for any overclocking.
I hope this information can answer your questions.
Sincerely,
John

I got mine from googlegear and they never said that it would to Ti4600 but they did give a link to albatron's website for product specs, can i still RMA it and get the good version?

If the card works like it should at stock speed, then no. That would be unethical. Just because you can't get a higher overclock than Joe Overclocker doesn't mean yours is "faulty". Now, if it had issues running at stock speed, then thats another story.
Be an ethical overclocker, don't make prices go higher just to try and get a few MHz/3DMarks.

I definitely agree with Morbid, and even if you did RMA it YOU WILL NOT GET THE CARD WITH THE BETTER RAM. The only suggestion I have is to go to a local store that may not have sold all their first batch (dont know product numbers) and buy one thats been on the shelf for three months, otherwise, no matter how many RMA's you do, you will NEVER get the first batch from the same location if they sent you one of the ones from the second batch, which is probably all they have now. There are other cards out there that can overclock well besides this one.

rats. i just bought this card after like a week of research, so your telling me, that it most likely won't overclock at all? or just not as well (like 700+ on first batch). if it'll do 280/640 min then i'm happy...but i really thought it would go atleast 300/650 enless i got an unlucky one....

Although I don't agree with RMA'ing a product based on the overlock obtained (or not obtained), that isn't a very fair stance. Albatron and its vendors have if not directly expressed at least implied that the card is intended to be overclocked. Even now on the Albaton USA website it has a symbol denoting overclocking (an overclock utility, I would presume) on the same line with a symbol denoting the 3 year warranty. If they are going to void the warrranty because you used the overclocking utility included, they should either warn the customer or simply remove the overclocking utility and pretense from the product.

all of them should do 280/640 hippo, and actually I just read a post where a guy without the holes in his RAM got over 700 on the memory, so who knows! Maybe one or two people got bad ones and went on a witch hunt instead of realizing it was a burn-in issue, or a power supply problem or something
