Just got this New Maxtors 80gig_8mb cache setup with RAID_0 last week for $49.00 after MIR. at outpost.com/FRYs.
Are this good numbers compared to WD SE 80 gig?

Heres my results:

Both drives were purchase at FRY's/Outpost.com during the day after thanksgiving sale (11-29-02, 1 day only). Regular price $129.00 per drive. 2 MIR rebates was given $50 and $30 +1 stick of 256 PC133 free included.

Here's how the receipt looks:

Maxtor 80gig = $109.00
PC133 256mb=$20.00

Total cost per drive after MIR = $29.00

Hint: New Years day....it might happen again..

Results above were taken from 2 Maxtor Drives Raid_0 setup:

here's the link of the other person who purchase the same drive: ( Codeman05)

The maxtors ata133 7200rpm 2mb cache i found to be faster then the wd1200jb's 8mb cache in real world tests (striped)..

Did you double dip on the rebates to get that price & have you gotten you rebate checks yet?

Wow those scores seem too good to be true.
On my WD 80gb Special Edition I get 32MB/s whereas you get 60MB/s (In Sandra). That's nearly double! You're even beating U160 SCSI and RAID setups. If this is for real... That's one heck of a fast drive!
