well, after my main hd, a u2w lvd scsi, began crapping out, i attempted to install xp on an ntfs formatted, single partition 80 gig maxtor 133 which is running on the raid channel of a bd7r (b/c it supports the 133 and the ide chan doesn't).

after disconnecting the scsi drive, changing the ide drive to master, changing the lable in the highpoint bios to 'boot', and changing the boot sequence in the bios, i inserted the xp install disc and found that there were no hard drives detected and that install will cancel and exit.

i wasn't happy, but figured i could just put it on a regular ide chan and leave it at that until i got another drive for raid. so after popping it on the ide 1 chan, and changing the boot sequence in the bios, i got the same darned message!

any ideas as to why this would happen would be greatly appreciated as i am clueless.

system specs are as follows:

winxp sp1
bd7r latetst mr n bios
maxtor 80gig ata133 2mb cache
512mb pc333
p4 1.6a @ 2.5
adaptec 2940 u2w
pc power and cooling 550watt
sb audigy

when you started the install process you pressed F6 to update the highpoint drives so the rest of the installation would recognize the drive?
