I found a slight performance boost... if you are looking for performance, then service packs probably aren't the thing you should be looking at. You should be looking at tweaks.
Here's what SP3 does:

alright, might be downloading them tonight. thanks man :)
Also check all the programs you are using to make sure there are no incompatibilities with it. The software for my digital camera is cripled by SP3:eek: Not that bad just annoying as hell. Good luck:D

I have had no problems with SP3, and I have heard of very few people who have had programs that were effected.
is this the service pak for win2000 server or regular win2k
For every version, actually (including Datacenter)

hmm got a few progs that runs good on 98se (like my really old digicam that plugs into a serial port with really old looking software ala win95 era), installing sp3 might screw things up?

I've installed sp3 with no problems. We have some really old software my kids use. sp3 added to the available compatibility modes. Previously, had only win95 and nt4 compatibility. Added win98 compatibilty. Our win98 programs run fine w/ sp3.
Here's a link on how to enable compatibilty mode in win2k: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q279792&

I'll take the sp3 package apart and only install the files I really want if possible. That should also get rid of the new EULA and auto update spyware issues.
I'll read all the install.ini files and see how it's done by the installer.
