Will the Geforce FX only work in 8x agp mobos?

I was reading a review about some nforce2 motherboard and I'm not sure if I'm just confused or what because I haven't been keeping up on motherboards lately (I only really get into it when I'm about to buy).

Anyways, it said 8x AGP videocards only work in 8x agp slots... is that true?

Nope. The Radeon 9700 pro, for example, works great in 8x, 4x and 2x boards, although I believe there have been problems with it in 2x boards. Dont know if they are user errors or just needed the BIOS update. Anyway, theres no reason to update your motherboard just for AGP 8x as atm it results in almost no tangible performance increase from 4x.
