I recieved my 8k5a2+ from newegg today but I cant seem to get it working. All the hardware Im using in it works. When I turn the power on the cpu fan and video card fan comes on as well as the little red led. The debugging led doesnt come on at all. It will not go into the bios or anything. It just sits there running. Put in a different video card and memory but still does the same. Funny thing to me is that the led on my monitor is green as if its on and it shows the adjustments on screen. It does this even if I unplug the power supply. This may be common on some boards, but I have never had one that did this as far as I remember, so it kinda freaks me out.:D I have tried clearing the CMOS and changing the battery as well as running it out side the board.

I haver never owned a Epox board before, so Im unsure what to do now. BTW, this was a refurbished mobo. It actually came with everything the new boards ship with, to my suprise.

Some one ppllleeaaassseee help me!!! I really want to get this board running.:(

Thats strange- ive always had wonderful luck with epox.
I think its problably rma time (if you can with that refurb)
The only thing you havnt tried is different proc +psu- I guess thats the last thing to try.

I was just about to try another cpu for the heck of it, but I cant see why Epox would send back a refurbished board that doesnt work? Know what I mean? I will try another cpu and see what happens.

If nothing shows up on the LED display your board is DOA. Even if one of your components(besides mobo) was not functioning you would get an error code on the display. As nealric said, its time for RMA.

YYEEAAA!!!! I think I got it figured out. I originally bought this board for a friend who said he would swap me for my soyo mobo. So I was using his athlon 1.33 to test the Epox. I just pt my old Duron 905mhz in and it works! Or at least it got into the bios, and the error led came on so at least I know it works now. But what to tell my friend about his processor? "Dang man, that sucks. now you gotta get a new cpu. wanna buy my Duron?:D " lol. I will be getting this setup as soon as I can(gotta reinstall windows:rolleyes: ) and will be shooting for 2ghz. I will keep everyone posted.

With a DOA XP1600+ on my 8K5A3+ nothing came up on the debug LED, no beeps, no POST, or anything. Someone mentioned when I was troubleshooting that this also happens to 8K3As, so I would say its definately your CPU.

that's odd because a dead CPU should post FF on the LED.

When I first put the system in my sig together and booted up, I just got a blank screen, but fans and all were running. So I hit the reset switch on my case and it booted like a charm.

Also, before I saw your second post in this thread I was gonna say to make sure the brightness was turned up on the monitor :D

:D heh I remember one time I was cleaning up my system, flashing new bios etc etc. I flashed my kt7a, cleared the cmos and turned on the computer. The HD light comes on and stuff but nothing comes on my screen, I figured at that time I must have fryed my bios chip. After some frustrating hours, I figured it out..... on the abit bios I'd, there was an entry to either initiate the AGP or the PCI one. When you cleared the bios it defaults to PCI, and I happened to had turn off the 2nd display, so nothing is showing up on my monitor :D

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. When my old 8K3A+ died I didn't get anything on the LED display although it did power up(fans started spinning but didn't POST).

I don't think it would show "FF" when the CPU is dead, because mine shows "FF" all the time and it's running wonderfully

With a dead 1600+ in my 8K5A3+, nothing comes up on the LEDs at all, not even an FF.

I have already determined that the cpu was dead and Im currently running the mobo with the hardware in my sig.
