A US bulk emailer is threatening legal action after so-called "anti- spammers" signed him up for lots of junk mail.
Detroit Free Press tech columnist Mike Wendland reported last week that Alan Ralsky is now experiencing what it likes to be flooded with unwanted correspondence. Mr Ralsky has the capacity to send a billion emails a day and has made a fortune doing it.
Now, he's receiving sacks of paper post, brochures, and catalogues [AOL CDs? Ed] after being signed up for all manner of junk mail - and he ain't happy.
He told the DFP: "They've signed me up for every advertising campaign and mailing list there is. These people are out of their minds. They're harassing me."
Some people have already pointed out the delicious irony in this situation made all the more sweeter because of Mr Ralsky's apparent distress.
And who are the anti-spammers? The heroes of the hour hatched the plot (http://www.freep.com/money/tech/mwend6_20021206.htm) on Slashdot, with spam haters posting Ralsky's address and "even an aerial view of his neighborhood".
You can read the full DFP story here (http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/11/22/1658256&tid=111)

I think this is great, but beware people...If theres someone you don't like and you decide to sign them up for all sorts of e-mail offers, Ive seen cases where they are prosecuted.
But anyway spamming a spammer is imo GREAT !!!

hahaha... Priceless :D
I saw this in a thread (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=146812) yesterday in GC. My response there:
Gold. Pure gold.
He's getting what he deserves. I bet 3/4 of the spam I get comes from some of his servers. I hate it. I get about 8-10 mails a day (that may be a drop in the bucket for some of you, but after recieving no spam for a good year and a half, it's aggrivating. I guard my addy well).
Hey, if his lawyers can sue the people sending him bulk mail, I'm sure users could sue him for sending spam. Sometimes, /. works

I suggest all of you using Outlook or OE to try Cloudmarks Spamnet (http://www.cloudmark.com/)
It's FREE and it works really well, I used to get a few Spams a day and these days I might get 1 or 2 a week, then I zap them and they never send another.

:Edit: I just read the interview with the guy. He is a criminal, it is said that someone who has been convicted of fraud and lost his insurance liscense can still make that much money, and worst of all he doesnt feel he is doing anything wrong. Also at the end he is looking into purchasing a program that will let him send pop up ads to anyone who is online.

He's cruisin' for a bruisin'.
Wouldn't a DDoS be more fun, though? Or a creative remote reworking of his server software?

Justice in the hands of the citizens. Ahh the good felling when i read this
That guy is a complete scum bag. I remember seeing on tv they were talking to some guy who got rich starting a spamming business (they didn't refer to it as "spamming" though), like he was this great guy cause he started his only succesful business. Wow! He's the telemarketer of the internet! And he wants to send pop up ads to everyones computer? AND HE WANTS TO SUE PEOPLE WHO DO IT TO HIM!?!?! WHAT A P.O.S.!!!
BTW- ever since I switched to yahoo mail and even my mail.com address I have never gotten a single piece of spam. I don't see what the big problem is with everyone, why not just switch over to one of these? and yes I know what its like to get spam, I did have AOL at one time...

Like you said, UM, Oh the delicious irony of it all.......:)
"Those who live by the sword, shall die by the sword."
Seems pretty fitting to inundate the scumbag under tons of the same kind of stuff he has been forcing on the rest of us...
Hope he learns the lesson, probably not...

I think its funny and he gets what he deserves. He's making money off all that spam, and now here are the reprocussions from his actions.
Like you said, if he does win this lawsuit, wouldn't that only make it easier for EVERY SINGLE spammed account owner win lawsuits against him?
