I have a Visiontek GeForce 3 Ti200. The fan is getting noisy. I looked at it but couldn't figure out how to remove the fan. Also, even if I can remove the fan Visiontek is not in business anymore. Any Visiontek gf3 owners know if/how I can remove the fan/heatsink combo and put on a new heatsink/fan? Any suggestions about what new video card heatsink/fan I should buy? I don't need the ultimate cooling solution, just something fairly good that will do the job as well as the stock cooler. I'm currently only overclocking the card to 220/430. Thanks.

If you want to remove the heatsink... Either it has pins that hold it on, or it is epoxied on like my radeon 8500.

If it is epoxied on, Stick the card in the freezer for 30 min OR heat the card up really hot for an hour or so, then pry that sucker off. I used a robogrip. Others use a credit card to protect the PCB, and pry it off with a screwdriver.

Then clean off all the gunk w/ alcholol (sp?) and a razor.

Use Arctic ALUMINA epoxy (donsn't conduct electricity unlike Arctic Silver) to attatch a new heatsink on. You may want to dillute the epoxy with some regular epoxy so that you can get it off later.

As for what heatsinks to use:...

I used some generic 1" tall heatsink and a 60mm fan. You could make your own like I did, or buy a blue orb, crystal orb, or cool jag 1u cooler.

The cool jag works the best out of those 3, but you may not be able to fit it on your card b/c it is 60mm x 60mm.

Hope this helps.

I should probably do a writeup on this b/c a lot of people ask about this. Or mabye some1 already has... I haven't checked.

I was the one that sent this to Ed and he posted it:
My Visiontek GeForce3 Ti200 fan went out (yet again), and since I read on the Inquirer that they're NOT out of business, I called Visiontek's old 1 866 883 5411, and guess what, they're still there, I talked to them and they sent me a new fan, I got it two days ago. Apparently warranties are still being honored.

The heatsink fan comes off easy. You can take the fan itself off by sticking a small screw driver(flat blade), into the side of the fan and pray upwards...it'll pop the side out...do the same for the other.

But that won't do much good...unless you get a new fan from Visiontek.

It uses push pins to hold it down, so just push the the pins out or something, you should be able to figure it out, ain't that hard.

Then go buy a aftermarket if you don't want a replacement from Visiontek...or do Funk says...

And add your own. Which requires either thermal epoxy or drilling holes in the heatsink.
