I'm building my first watercooling setup. From reading past posts, it sounds like maxijet is the way to go for a budget watercooler like myself.

So my question is, should I go for the maxijet 900 or 1200? The 1200 seems to use a lot more power for not a huge increase in flowrate.

Space is also a concern. Does anyone have any size measurements for the two?

The 900 and the 1200 are identical in size.

size
2.679inches wide
1.971inches tall
1.950inches long without impeller housing
3.375inches long with impeller,
4.575inches long with hosebarb and all
the impeller housing is rotatable, so it changes a little bit
there isnt much diff in flow, I would suggest the 900 if its not a big deal.

Thanks for the quick replies.

JFettig - The only thing the 900 seems to have going for it is that it seems to be more energy efficient. Is that why you'd recommend it?

well if that few gph doesnt matter to you, wich I dont see why it would, go for it, its much more efficient.

Let price be your decision...if you can get the 900 for $5-10 cheaper...get it.

But for me...it was only $2 difference.

for two dollars, go with the 1200

If you have a heatercore, don't worry about pump heat.

I love my Via 1200, this pump has some nice pushing power to it, prolly the strongest of all of the 3 pumps Ive had. Would never buy anything else:) I think I got it for like $20 at becooling

Yeah, and if you put in "procooling.com" in the comments section, you get the fully assembled version with 1/2 barbs for 20.

My maxijet 1200 runs dead cool altho it runs at 14Watts instead of the 20Watts as it is a european model. It looses a bit of head pressure because of this tho 1.48Meters is its max.It hardly even get warm

oh , i did do J's inline mod , and i think i found the problem ... the heatercore i got has some internal "buildup" ill be cleaning it seperately by shooting some vinegar thru it ... hopefully that should do the trick :D

did you bore out the barb so there isnt restriction? I didnt mention or notice that before, and there was a good amount of restriction, I can immagine how some barb could have less of an ID to it and restrict TONS of flow, when I have a break from school I can get around to writing that up, Im ultra bizzy when I would feel like writing that up, I hate writing things:p

hmm , good idea . i didnt bore out the barb . This whole thing is funny because i was running it all day the day before and nothing happened , and yesterday it just started doing it when i booted it up in the morning ....

after all it was the pump .... i bored out the barbs , and just ran it inline to a bucket , it still failed after 10min ...

i ordered a 900 (8.5watts) hopefully it should run cooler then the 1200 (20watts)

I have a 900 and it's been chugging away 24/7 for about two months now. I leak tested my setup for three days 24/7 outside of my case (mostly because I kept running out of time) and niether the pump, water, core, tubes or block ever felt warmer than room temp.

It's almost silent though there is a bit of vibration. When mounting it into my case, I used the included suction cups and I can't hear or feel a thing. The only noise is that of my Sunon 120x38mm 86CFM fan.

This setup (fan 7-volted, Maxijet 900, 86' chevette core, 1/2 or larger tubing and fittings, and a converted dragon orb 3 block) get me temps almost identical to my glaciator1 without the obscene case fans. (I had 5 case fans with the glaciator, I have only two with WC)

HTH!

nice, it sounds like the 900 is the way to go ...

It just sounds like yorus is having problems, I have 2 maxijet 1200s and ran them both 24/7 for 4+months each, The old one is my leak testing pump, I just got another that I have run for a little while, There is possibly something else to it, I suggest you take it apart and inspect the impeller, is there something lodged? like some hair? I kept getting hair in my impeller whne i would use the sink for testing and whatnots

What do you mean by boring out the barb?
