My 40 dollar UV light...doesn't work...no...more!

I just tried it yesterday (when I came home from school) and it wouldn't turn on...

I can open it and find out what's wrong, but have any of you had that problem before?

I've only had mine for a couple months

My first one died after 6 months because it was used too close to a strong magnetic field (I.E. a large set of stereo speakers).

A magnetic field will compress the gasses toward one end of the tube causing them to get less and less "excited" when a current is run through them. This compression will eventually ruin the tube.
Other than that I'm not sure what the problem would be besides dead wiring or a blown fuse.

Are you using a cold cathode and inverter or a neon tube? Cold cathodes have a much longer life span.

the inverter(i think its called) could be shocked or the light could be smashed them are pretty much the only 2 reasons it wouldn't work. The bulb wouldn't be dead they last a long time.

If you go here you can buy just a power supply for about 6 bucks or just a cold cathode tube for about 6 bucks. I had one that went bad and just bought another bulb from here.

Oh yeah, part number for the power supply is PWR1120, just do a search on site for cold cathodes for the bulbs.

hmm..it was a neon tube thing, the cigar lighter light you just snip off and attach to a molex

I work in car audio and video installations and it seems that 1 in 5 of the 12" UV tubes that we sell burns out in a week or two. Never a problem with the standerd colors, just the UV ones. I've called the manufacturer and they said it was most likely do power surges. I had one last over a year in my pc, but i replaced it with a cheap $10 wal-mart tube over the $30 street glow one i had.
