Recommendations, anyone?
I am looking for the least expensive board that would run an Athlon XP up to 1900, DDR up to 2700 and have onboard video
I would like to set up at least 3-5 nodes and looking for the best MOBO to meet my needs
thanks for your ideas

if you setting up the yatta for just folding then you could save a little money by using regular PC-133 SD-ram, folding doesn't take advantage of the extra bandwidth from DDR.
don't know about the motherboard though.

If folding does not take advantage of DDR memory, I would recommend a refurb Biostar M7VKQ motherboard from Newegg. When you can find them, they are about $23 each. The board does have FSB overclocking, but does not multiplier or voltage adjustments. Biostar also has the M7VIQ (I think) which supports DDR memory, and it runs about $39 each for a refurb. Both of these boards have on-board video and LAN.
I have 2 Intel based Biostar motherboards and I have not had any problems with mine.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about OCing it... yattas are about quantity more than quality, and the extra cooling cost might be prohibitive... but if not, then it'd certainly be a speed boost.

The M7VIG has PC133 and DDR, onboard LAN and video.

I think it would be benficial to have OC options on the board. Even with "stock like" cooling, I'm running my XP1600+ on cheap RAM @ 1630. That is a 230 MHz OC as we all know. If you could run 6 XP 1600+ in a Yatta, that extra speed could translate to 1380 MHz extra, which is just like having an additional node :)
Just my 2 cents.

Sorry about being a technical, nit-picking gimp, but is a 133FSB actually a 133 and a third FSB? The difference at 10.5x is about 3 MHz. I'm curious because MBM shows my stock 1600+ @ 1407 MHz. Is this a MBM error, or is my FSB just a wee bit over 133?
How does this tie in with what you said? Well, actually, it doesn't.:D But if it did, then it'd be a ~225 MHz overclock. As we all know.:)

A lot of boards overclock the CPU just a tiny bit to come out ahead in benchmarks etc at the same speed. Some boards even still have a turbo setting that turns the FSB up a bit. For instance my XP 1600+ is clocked to 166 fsb locked. 1746 MHz right? Nope, Wincpu ID has it at 1752.25 MHz 166.88 FSB.

I think newegg still has some cheap epox refurbs. Those would be nice for o/c.

My processor reads in at 2411. Just a bit over the stock 2.4 mark. ;)
Doesn't ECS make a mATX board that's socket A, runs an XP 1x00+, SDRAM (PC133), and also has onboard vid and LAN??
I seem to recall Flounder was using these for a while (perhaps still does).
