I just added a hard drive, an ati aiw 7500 grapics card, and a usb hub to my system. Now every free hours my explorer crashes, and i cant get it down to whats doing it. There is never the same stuff running, other then stuff i have used for many yrs. Anyway i got to thinking maybe im out of power, im running a 400 watt ps. here is my stats

abit kt7a mobo
1.4 t-bird
512(256 & 2x128) pc133 kingston ram
ati all in wonder 7500 64mb graphics card
io-magic sound card
ethernet card
ide133 card
24x burner
16x dvdrom
120GB wd, 80GB maxtor, & 60GB Maxtor Hard Drives
Floppy drive
4 case fans
4-port usb hub
printer
usb scanner
usb mouse
usb keyboard
usb joystick
usb ati controller
19in crt moniter

when i use the formulas found in these forums i come up with about 350 watts needed, plus the 1.5 thing. Oh the ps is stock antec sx1040b 400watt ps. If anyone thinks it might be something please tell me that too..haha. Im about ready to take all the new stuff back.

well anything will help,

does free= three??

I don't think its a power issue. If you are running at full load, then maybe its a power issue. But if you are having crashes which are recoverable such as explorer crashes, I sersiouly doubt it would be power related. Much worse things would happen, such as complete freezes, BSODs, or random reboots. When I find a system being under powered, it rarely finishes booting before I get a freeze.
