im looking around on some computer hardware websites...looking for a good deal on a video card, and i accidentally right click on the bar at the top of internet explorer...where you can select what you want to show at the top of the window (address bar, links, standard buttons..and there is an option for Xupiter...now i did a search for it on my computer..and it came up with like 30 different files...and even after i deleted that stuff, its still in the options when you right click on the top of internet explorer....and, when i start my computer...this application starts..only way i can see it is in task manager...and ive never seen it before...any ideas what it is? and how i can get rid of it completely...id really like to keep away from formatting my harddrive again in less than 1 week.

use ad-aware if you arent comfortable edting your registry.

(sounds like spyware)

remember that when your surfing the internet, you shouldnt click "yes" when an authorization screen pops up asking you if you want to run "so-and-so program" from "such-and-such" company.

thats the screen that has the box at the bottom that says "always trust content from such-and such company. evil- box.

Yeah, I had Xupiter get on one of my rigs also. Go into Safe mode and delete it in Program Files.

Ad-Aware didnt kill it on my friends comp, needed SpyBot to weed it out.

Adaware and Spybot together do a great job. They work complimentary to each other. Amazing how quickly crap piles up.

They actually provide an uninstaller ( http://www.xupiter.com/uninstall.exe ) but I don't know how much to trust it..

yes yes..i dont really trust the uninstaller to a spyware program....nor spyware programs themselves for that matter
