I just installed a tyan 1598 super socket 7 and now I can't get windose to reload, I get an IOS write protection error. DOS works fine. any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

You must be running 350Mhz+? If you are, then you need to get the AMD patch from micro$haft. Do a search for it on thier download site, it should be readily available. To get the system to boot, underclock it to <300Mhz and you should be able to boot into Windoze fine. Apply the patch, clock back up and you are done.

Windoze has a timing error with the CTX cored AMD K6-2's that would give you an IOS error. THe patch solves it no problem. IF you cannot find the patch, email me as I have it somewhere around here.... Best of luck.

The MS patch only works with Windows 95 B or later. If you are running an earlier version of Windows 95 you will have to upgrade. If you have the invoice for your AMD processor and a Windows 95 Certificate of Authenticity, contact AMD tech support about an upgrade to Windows 98.
