What exactly is this? I turned it off and i gained around 10-15 fps in UT 2003 and 40 in Counter-Strike, is it something i need? Will it make my stuff look better? Why did this happen? Please just tell me alittle about it and why i got so much better FPS! Thanx!!!

If you cannot see a visual difference, you should have it off for better performance. But if you are the type of person that pays close attention to detail, leave it on (even though you still will not be able to tell the difference)

with w-sync, the video card puts out frames according to your monitor refresh rate. (ex. monitor refresh rate=60kHZ, the card puts out frams at 60kHZ.) with out v-sync, the card just spits out the frames as fast as it can process it. (which if your moniotr is 75+kHZ, id recommend this)

vsync is ok if you have your card, driver and monitor properly configured, besides you can even fold while gaming :D

v-sync performs frames in sync with your monitors refresh rate...for each time the monitor refreshes itself the graphics card will output 1 frame...with this disabled the graphics card will work independantly of the monitor and just keep moving onto the next frame regardless of the monitors refresh...this can lead to problems in some games were image tearing may be noticeable.

if you find bad image quality or small oddities in display try turning it on - although this limits to monitors refresh...your monitors refresh is all you can see anyway so increase in FPS is pointless...

Triple buffering will help this as it forces the board to work full rate when VSYNC is on yet display the frame last produced as the monitor comes to refresh

IE my monitor is on 100Hz refresh...so even if the game says in getting 150fps im still limited to 100Hz - so I leave it on
