Capture weird problem

I have this weird problem: i use PixelView XCapture card for capturing video (the chip is based on Conexant 878A chip). I work under Windows XP Pro and i use Virtual Dub for capturing video. When i try to capture everithing goes smooth except for the audio. The audio is captured but when i play the movie i hear no sound. The Line In is enabled and the volume is up. I use no compression for audio (PCM 44100 172kb/s).
When i capture under Win98se there is no problem. I tryed 2 different drivers and 2 different sound cards (Live 5.1, Audigy Player 5.1).
I know it is something stupid but can;t figure it out.
Any ideas ?

I'd check your codecs in WinXP and make sure they're up to snuff.

This is a super old post but I just came across the same problem today. Apparently, there is a bug when you try to capture audio in Windows XP. After checking everything multiple times, I finally tried an experiment -- I attempted to capture on Windows 2000 instead. It worked perfectly! I'm pretty sure that it is a Windows XP issue; I also looked on some audio boards and other people were having the same problem... and all of them were trying to capture in XP.
