Simple question, and I just need a quick responce! I'm leaving for the computer store in 10 min and need some quick last minute advice. Should I maybe go with the 300W????

Too simple a question. You have to specify which 250W supply if you want useful guidance. FSP/Sparkle 250W supplies are almost overkill for this type of system, and a Deer 250W would be boiling its meager guts out trying to keep up.
That's kind of like asking "Is a 40GB IDE hard drive fast?" It depends on the drive.

500mhz K6-2? I think almost any 250w PSU will do the job well. Just make sure the combined +3.3 and +5 voltage is at least above 150. Almost anything will be ok.
Hope you havent left yet.

Nope not yet, I think its between a no-name brand / Enermax or U.S Can PSU all rated for 250W ATX specs.
The thing is were getting the case and PSU for $59 or $69 depending on which PSU I choose so I was just wondering if I needed something bigger than 250Watts.
I noticed that the 300W PSUs are going for $69 which is the price of the whole case and PSU that I was looking at!

ATX specs cover the form factor, not the output or quality (with the exception of the standby line's output). You have to identify the exact supply in question before anyone can do anymore than guess. A good quality 250W model will do the job fine. A junk 300W might not. The above advice on the 3.3+5V output is good, the Sparkle 250W supplies range from 150-175W 3.3+5V and the 175W version is sold by newegg for 25 USD. The 300W Sparkle is only 27 USD. $69 (even canadian dollars) is steep for a 300W supply, and it likely won't have the 200W 3.3+5V output of the Sparkle.

$51 for both is just too sweet to pass on ;) Thanks guyz for all the help, it was most appreciated. BTW, I got me a new Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 . Those mice are soo comfortable!

Great news everyone, the computer I built upon this 300W ATX and that med tower is working great!
I even went all out and bought a copy of WindowsXP Pro for it :) Specs are,
K6-2 500MHz
256MB PC100 Ram
8MB Intel i740 Real 3D StarFighter Graphics Card
5.1GB Maxtor Hard Drive
AWE64 Gold Sound Card
300Watt No-name Antec PSU
Not too shabby, considering it was sitting in my closet for over two years now! The only two problems I'm having with the system is the cooling for the CPU (Real poor cooling) and the sound blaster needs to be reset everytime I wanna listen to music with the computer (my dad anywayz).
When I get my GeForce FX, I think I'm gonna put my GeForce2 TI in this computer :)

From that era? The Alpha PEP66 or the Globalwin CBK-II38 would work well for you.

Also for the future you should note that the power supply needs also depend on the hardware you will be running in the system.
When I am asked about power supplies, in order to give an accurate assessment about which power supply to use and how many watts, I need to know how many of what type of parts are being used because it really all adds up to total power drain. Then after watt needs are assessed the power supply brand is what comes in to play.
On a subnote, fulfill that awesome mouse by using a Compad Speedpad or a ratpadz mousepad.

Thanks for the pointers.
hehe, you know what, I still gotta figure out what the heck I'm gonna do now with those two new buttons. They are so handy to have there with Net browseing thou :) Back and Forward have never been soo easy! Also, my dad jacked two Dell mouse pads from work which are hallagrams and make the mouse float from the magnetism.

A 250w power supply is plenty for a k6-2 500mhz. My old compaq k6-2 500mhz computer had a much lower wattage ps and worked fine.
