Hi,
Lets goto the world where you have all the money you want, now, what would you buy thats computer related.
Why am I asking this? Well, I want to see what kind of stuff people around here are intereasted in.
If I could get anythign I want computer related, it would either be:
~So Far - The First Ten Years of a Vision (http://store.yahoo.com/redlightrunner/aptenanbook.html) - A book regarding Apple's 10 years of operation, mint conditon and 339 US Dollars.
~Rare Apple Lionel Train Car (http://store.yahoo.com/redlightrunner/rarapliontra.html) - A model train with the Apple insignia, 249.95 US Dollars (see the trend in products?).
Im kinda swinging for the train, nice little hobby I can start. But, the book would be nice too. Ah well, lot of saving to go.

I would buy Microsoft then I would reduce the price so the profit margin was 1% above the manufacuring cost. (I would also do away with that damn product activation)
Then I would buy Intel and would tell the engineers to Unlock and enable hyperthreading in all CPU's, then I would reduce the price so the profit margin was 1% above the manufacuring cost.(I would also manufacture overclockable mobos)

Screw that, get an Imax theatre.
To be serious, a new video card or a MD Player. Mebbe getting both. But I'm really going for the MD though.

I already saw Mom with what I asked for, a KVM
If money were no object, then I agree with Sam, I would take Microsoft. I am not greedy, so I am going to pick only one "item". Then I am not going to cut it down like he is. I would make them make better products. Then I take the money from that and buy other companies. Soon I would own the whole industry, then the world! Muhahaha!

Sorry Billg all ready tried that one.
For me I want an iPod ;)
I'd be mighty happy with just a lil' ol Antec Tru-Power 550W PSU for my server.
*wonders how long before the 350W Antec in there now blows*
But if we're gonna dream big...I'd like that vid card they pictured in last months MAXIMUM PC Magazine. The blonde holding that prototype NV30 was quite nice...but I don't see the wife letting me get that...
Actually...while I'm on the subject...though the Dec. issue is already out, I'd like to see Jon Phillips publish the pics of my rig I submitted to them for their regular "Rig Of The Month" feature... :D
And maybe another half gig of ECC Reg. PC2100 for the server too... :)
(Wow...that's all I want?!?! I must be getting complacent....or old. :( )

Actually, i would buy Microsoft and shut it down, and hear the synonomous sigh of 500,000 overclockers and computer geeks all over the world. Damn, that would feel good.:D
If it was possible, i'd also pay to have the law temporarially (sp?) suspended so i can't be arrested; buy bill gates, and buy a gun and shoot him.

I just want a computer that can run simple 3d games like Command & Conquer: Generals. and not crash when I try to play MP3's.
That, and something faster than my current 466Mhz proccessor.
Hell, my proccessor is slower than most new Proc's FSB! -cries-

LOL i was waiting for that:p
HELLosXP, but only cos linux doesn't run 99.99999% of applications that I NEED!
i'm getting a system soon soley for linux dev.
I'm waiting for someone to say "hey, wait, look at this: people want stability and security, with multiuser, multitasking, GUI and command line options, with ease of use, user friendlyness, and compatability, but with much more powerful options. Let's make a linux that'll run with all windows software"
And then eventually people will make more and more software for linux, and more and more people will use it, and it'll beome more mainstream- hopefully.

Well...Just over two years ago, I registered here.
At that time, I was posting on a Dell P75, about to get a Celeron 300A, and was asking about CPU/mobo compatability.
*looks over at dual AMD XP rig*
Stick around...as you learn stuff here, your rig will grow, change and improve faster than you'd imagine. I bet by this time next year, you're posting your Christmas '03 "Wish List" on a PC three to five times faster than that one you have now...;)
Cheers!

my first post (about 7 months ago i think) was about heatsinks and i was running a 750Mhz duron OC'ed to 800Mhz and thinking i was great! (ok, stop laughing) now i'm trying to tweak out a stick of PC2100 to let me run my FSB at 166Mhz. i'm soo close i can taste it! it's amazing how much i've learned from this forum.
wishlist
i would buy the 3DFX name from Nvidia and contract ATI to revive 3DFX's name in the video card market while i developed a videocard that makes the 9700Pro look like integrated 4MB video. (i'm thinking a 2Ghz core with 512MB 2Ghz 512bit ram  )

Realistically, I've got several thing on my wish list:
SB Audigy Platinum w/ all the accessories
Two TBredB 1800+ chips for my dual
A cheap (PII generation) laptop for couch surfing
Dual 18.1" flat panels with a decent response time
another mATX motherboard, mATX case, and a GF4 Ti4200 to build a LAN rig from
But with cycling season coming up I'll most likely only get the first (with my Xmas money).
Now if we're talking unrealistically.....
- Dual Prestonia system with a 200 GB RAID 5 array
- all the hardware for a complete 802.11a wireless LAN for my apartment
- 512 kb SDSL and a static IP so I can run game/ftp servers
- A full unlimited license for XWin32 and/or Exceed so I can run my Linux boxes from my Windows box
- Another MSI K7D and a couple of low speed XP's or Durons (and all the related necessary hardware) so I can convert my current fileserver to dual CPU
- the list goes on.....

I'd like a mini-itx board with.....
mini-itx case
slim dvd drive
80GB hard drive
256MB RAM
Two USB Sidewinder gamepads
Be perfect for playin mp3's, emulators, and movies =D
What'd I ask for? an Logitech MX700 and a ton of games

hmm... i'd build myself a top of the line amd dully...
i need someone to make me a L1-like harddrive... lets see.. they have half a meg on the p4's... so its just a matter of money
i'd then buy intel, and make them work for amd... :D:D
edit: what happened to my 4 stars??? im down to 220 posts??? WHAT????? - oh yeah, i'd also want my stars back
Some posts got deleted, and posts in general chat and I think gripes and moans don't count toward your post count anymore

just to verify, your postcount is whatever is LEFT on the forums? not how many you posted in total???
edit: general chat never counted towards total either

Thats the problem. I have no money, and my PCs are OEMs that I can't change the mobo's in, which means I can't do any serious upgrades :(
Thanks for the support tho.
